Measure the athlete’s height and then measure the subject’s weight. To determine Body Mass Index (BMI) you need the appropriate formula according to unit you used.
Formula
In metric units: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height2 (meters)
In US units: BMI = weight (lb) ÷ height2 (inches) * 703.

Analyzing and Assessment
Many experts believe that a BMI between 18 and 25 is suitable for most people. Of course, there are groupings for different genders. For example, 20 to 25 for men and 18 to 25 for women are considered acceptable ranges.
Note: This test is not suitable for athletes. We cannot categorize an overweight athlete as obese, because of his muscles. It is recommended that athletes use more advanced tests.
