Familiarity with subcutaneous skinfold measurement sites for body composition and anthropometry tests
Using callipers to measure body fat percentage and excess fat mass is the most common way to measure body composition among trainers, athletes, and nutritionists. At the same time, this method is cheaper than other methods, but for its implementation, expertise in measurement and knowledge of the main measurement points is required. In the following, we have explained each of these places that are used in different formulas in the form of a picture.
Attention and Tips:
- It is better to take all measurements from the right or left side of the body.
- All measurements should be done by a person who has the necessary expertise.
- Use a standard calliper.
- Each point is measured three times and put its average in the corresponding formula.
- Too much pressure should not be applied to the skin with hands or callipers.
- The measurement area should not be covered with clothes.
