Deltoid muscle: a powerful muscle in the arm joint, which, in addition to performing important movements, leads to the head of the humerus being well placed in the glenoid cavity, and as a result, it also protects this joint. This muscle is one of the most important muscles in the arm joint and is named the deltoid muscle because of its triangular shape.

It is in three parts: Anterior, Posterior, and Lateral deltoids

Attachments
Origen: Lateral 1/3 of the clavicle (Anterior part), acromion
process (Lateral Part), and spine of the scapula (Posterior part)

Insertion: Deltoid tuberosity of the humerus

Actions:

Abducts the shoulder (all fibers)
Flexes, internally rotates, and
horizontally adducts the shoulder
(anterior fibers)
Extends, externally rotates, and
horizontally abducts the shoulder
(posterior fibers)

Description:

Different tools can be used to strengthen this muscle. Exercises such as arm abduction strengthen all three parts of this muscle. Chest press exercise also strengthens the anterior part of this muscle. Other exercises such as Swedish swimming also strengthen the anterior part of this muscle.

By strengthening this muscle, trainers in various sports, in addition to increasing the performance of athletes, reduce joint injuries in the arm area.
